The following is a list of results of games and competitions not published last week:Berwyn Juniors sped to a thrilling 4-3 victory over the strong Fairview team in the final for the Howson Cup Thursday afternoon. The game was played at a terrific pace throughout and kept the crowd in an uproar. One of the features of the game was the sensational goal tending of Yaschke in the Berwyn net.Fairview scored first on Van Hook's goal. Spots wood equalized for Berwyn on Galbraith's pass and went ahead as Longtin tallied on a play from Johnston. In the second period Matthews evened it for Fairview. In the third Johnston scored a long one for Berwyn and with Fairview pressing Galbraith slapped in Spottswood s rebound. Down two Fairview sent every man up and in the final minute McAuley scored. There was hardly time-for another play and the game ended with Berwyn one up.McLennan Midgets defeated High Prairie 3-2 Friday morning to gain possession of the House of Hoberlin Cup in the last game of the Carnival. McLennan held a three goal lead as a result of goals by Sneddin, Jones and Carley in the first period. In the third the light, scrappy High Prairie team rallied to score 2 but despite desperate efforts could not equalize. Hayden and Mearon were the snipers. Previously on Thursday night the two teams had played 10 minutes overtime with neitherside counting, thus necessitatingthe Friday game.There was a good crowd to witness the skiing contests during the Carnival and some good work was done by the contestants. In the senior event Hans Roland won first prize and Norman Anderson second.Only one prize was offered in the intermediate section which was won by James Pope.Competition was keen in the junior class the result being that Jimmy Hanna secured first place and |Glen Murphy fsecond. The girls' first was captured by Miss Emma George and Miss Evelyn Gibson took second.In the Bridge Tournament the Shuben brothers carried away the first prize. Although the entry of teams was small it is hoped that more entries will be received, increasing its popularity, in future carnivals.
