Because of failing health, no birthday party is planned this year. Miss Loges enjoyed open house last year on her birthday.Miss Loges has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sharp in the Embury community southwest of Donnellson for the past six years.Born in Etna, Mo., on Feb. 25, 1870, she is the daughter of the late Christian and Dorothea Reml-ing Loges and is the last surviving member of her family. She had six brothers and two sisters, one of whom died in infancy.birthdayWhen Miss Loges was lour years old, the family moved to Iowa in a covered wagon. She recalls her parents telling about being unable to cross the Ees Moines river at Croton until the river went down. They camped at Croton and her brothers made daily trips to check the river.Due to failing eyesight Miss Loges had to give up sewing eight, years ago, but she enjoys watching television. Very seldom ill, she has been a hospital patient just one time. That was when she was 20, she underwent surgery in a Kansas City hospital.Her recipe for longevity: A balanced diet and plenty of work.
