A* iloffifcati, and it Was eele* brated in the eVeftihg At the home Uf their son Charles L. llolftMHO on Wash*lugtoh avenue, in the shape of A stir*nrlae gotton up by the young man and bis energetic wife. A big supper wasarranged and at the proper time motherand fattier were conducted to the home of their children where a Very enjoyable time was had* It was a most complete surprise but greatly appreciated by the parents of the young people who sup* plied the entertainment. The special feature of the sumptuous supper served was a large, handsome and most delicious cake containing in bold letters an inscription indicating the anniversary and giving the initials of Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman, together with the date of their marriage.J. A. Hoffman and Miss Margery 0. Wilson were married by Rev. Reuben II. Wilson at the bride’s home in Hunt ingdon on the 9th of*February 1870, and at once began housekeeping at the home of Mr Hoffman in Alexandria, Hunt* ingdon county, where he spent all his life until twelye years ago when he lo* cated in Tyrone. They have been blessed with seven children, five girls and two boys. Mr. and Mr9 Hoffman and their family of children are highly respected in Tyrone, and townspeople congratulate them upon safely reaching the quarter of a century milestone on their matrimonial highway, with good health attending each and all.Just. such a snow as the one now with us prevailed in the winter of 1870, and Mr. Hoffman remembers having some difficulty in persuading an Alexandria liveryman to give him a team with which to go to Huntingdon and bring back his bride. But the errand was a pressing one, and assuming all risks the young man got the horse and sleigh and made his way through a seven mile stretch of unbroken road. It was a happy thought of Charley and his wife to honor their parents with the anniver 9ary celebration, and speaks well for the young people.llltllt ffff •ll°
