They used to take paper, cut part of it in about inch strips and three feet long and a foot wide and tack it on a long stick of wood. There you bad something to chase the flies away,* * *I remember Mr. Schultz used to come down our street every Saturday to get soap fat from the housewives, which went into Star soap. Later on his son Bob’' who had become a soap boiler, took the helm. This was the beginning of Schultz Star soap. The name met your eye on every fence and bam in Muskingum county. The soap became -very popular and the Schultz Opera House ' was built on iFfth street with stores on the ground floor. Gold Hall and the Opera House. Later Johnny Hoge took an active part in the business. Later on they sold out to Proctor and Gamble who moved the factory to Cincinnati.I remember that some of the ladies took exception to the Cupids on the fountain in front of the courthouse. They said the poor little fellows were not dressed properly, I don’t know how the row with the county commissioners ended. But they should come out to Hollywood and **'
