' Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Snell, residing at 217 South Monroe street, were married sixty years ago today, February 6, 1879. However, due to the fact that their children could not all be present on the anniversary date, the occasion was celebrated Sunday, one day early. W. E. Snell and Nancy E. Mather were married in Knoxville, Knox county, Illinois, on February 6, 1879, by a Methodist minister, Daniel Ayers. The family moved to Iowa from Illinois, but only resided there a short while, later moving to North Missouri, and to Brookfield in 1917. Mr. Snelli,was employed 4% years at the local freight house, and for a like time as aHhagman at the Burlington crossing, and retired in • 1926. He was honored.1i11•J4by the (Burlington when he retired by being given an annual pass good over the entire Burlington division, he not having served a sufficient time to entitle him to a pension. Mr. and Mrs Snell have a family of four boys and one girl, all of whom are living and were present at the wedding anniversary party yesterday. C. H. Snell and family and F. A. Snell of Sharon, Washington, remained to spend a few more days with their father and mother. Mr. Snell was 85 years of age on August 5 of last year, and Mrs. Snell was 80 on January 16 of this year. (Both are unusually well preserved and are enjoying good health considering their age. They are well informed on all subjects of world news and are a remarkable couple, and the | ] Budget-Oazette extends its since rest congratulations and express the hope they they will enjoy many more anniversaries together.Those present were:Virgil Snell, Warren Snell, Mr. and Mrs. C.
