Wells art teacher loses battle with cancerBy Janet Conner-KnoxDaily Times Staff WriterA local Wilson teacher, whose art students had designed and sold greeting cards to raise money for her, lost her battle with breast cancer Sunday afternoon.The news of Susan McAden’s death went out by telephone Sunday night to parents of students who attended Wells Elementary School. McAden was the art teacher at Wells but had not been able to teach this year because of her battle with cancer.Monday morning, students observed a moment of silence in remembrance of their teacher.School counselors and a psychologist were at the school in case any student would need someone to talk to.School counselor Johnnie Evans said not many students have asked to talk with counselors at the school Monday morning.“The children were aware that Mrs. McAden was very’ sick,' Evans said. “She had been incommunication with the students, even coming in to see them once in a while.Evans said everyone misses her and will remember her always.“She will always be a partHP m ■ iJL r--a• - ■• • ■Susan McAdenof our school.” Visitation for McAden will be today at Joyner’s Funeral Home. 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, from 7-p p.m. Her funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Wilson, 311 W.
