Continued from Page 1Athe Xenia Fire Division will honor them with a memorial service on the l(X)th anniversary of their deaths.Two graveside ceremonies MondayOn Monday, the division will memorialize both men at two ceremonies, one at each grave site of the firefighters.The first ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Monday atVUllery's grave site at Woodland Cemetery, before moving to St. Brigid Cemetery for Fletcher's ceremony at 10:30 a.m.Cope said a trumpeter from Xenia High School could be on hand to render TAPS, and the Rev. Pete Creamer will offer a word of scripture.The public, as well as members of city staff and elected officials are invited to attend the ceremony.Cope said it had been interesting studying what actually happened in the fire, and with the I(X)th anniversary coming soon, he thought it would beimportant to honor the only two line-of-duty deaths the Xenia division has ever seen.“I’ve always taken an interest in the Xenia Fire Division's History,” Cope said.Cope has been researching the two men who died in the 1908 fire as preparation organize the memorial. I thought a knew a lot about what had happened revolving around that fire, but after going through and reading some of these article* that were written a day, two days or three after the fire, 1 learneda lot more.”Although Cope said Monday's ceremony would be different from a firefighter funeral or a line-of-duty ceremony from a death that happened more recently, rt will be a chance for Xenia to remember and honor two men who sacrificed for the city.“We’re a tight-knit community,” he said. “This is more for us to remember two men who were killed in the line of duty in our community as part of our history.”
