Jaycees Hunt Electric Motor for Ski School! Janesville’s Jaycees are looking ! for a three-phase 24-horsepower electric motor to replace the cur-i rent tow power supply which breaks down an average of five times an hour, according to Joe 1 Lego, cochairman of the Jaycee Ski School.The school, operated at Riverside Park, has been termed very successful from the standpoint of participants, but evidently, the equipment leaves something to be i desired.“Present power is faulty, undependable and inadequate,” Lego j lamented, noting that the 1933 ! Dodge truck and engine have po;v-| ered ski tows here and at Fort ; Atkinson for 14 years. He also■r' I: complained that the engine uses ; exorbitant amounts of oil and gas-j oline, the radiator leaks and the j clutch is in need of repair.i 1P-H |I«He says the rope capacity is only two skiers.The Jaycees also are interested in obtaining ski equipment. “There are twice as many students without equipment as there, are with skis and poles,” he explained, adding that those wishing to donate equipment can call either Lego or Ken Lagerman or write to the Jaycees, Box 343.Most recent donation was 2,000 feet of good used tow rope by Bill Grunow, owner of Majestic Hills, Lake Geneva.In addition to ski equipment, Lego also said the school is in need of a portable warming house and an oil stove.Saturday’s classes will start at usual times, with new registrations slated for 2:30 p.m. only. No Jaycee skis are available to new registrants, Lego said.
