totoedr_?keqfit.erib,te.be'lyU.Surprise Party Held for Mr-and Mrs. Joe Kliegl Last Saturday Evening#.n-■n-it.erbeit,jest.gelisip-2t-onenUyISaturday, January 28, was the forty-fifth anniversary of the 'marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kliegl of Fairfield township.Mrs. Kliegl and the .children took note of the event, but Mr. Kliegl failed to remember that, there was anything unusual about the day. So a surprise was planned. At eight o'clock in the evening, the sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, 29 in all, dropped i}f:ofit-heI(in and reminded Mr. Kliegl that he was getting to be an old man. He met them , with the same bouyant spirit that characterized him when his children were tiny tots at home.Mrs. Kliegl, who was aware that the young people were com-Sing, and so had fowl baked andvegetables ready-to serve. The young pfcople brought the salads, cake,3: ice cream and other viands to make up a sumptuous meal which they enjoyed together.Games, conversation, cards and, merrymaking made the early part 1 of the evening pass quickly. Aflt-er they dined, music tempted them to dance and the family party did not end until the wee small hours of the morning.This was the happiest of happy events for the family. When a mere nd I baby she came to America with | her parents, who located in the j vicinity of Mallard. There she ^ j grew to womanhood.Joseph Kliegl was born at Beaver Dam, Wis., December 15, 1859. He was quite young when the family came to Iowa. They located in Fairfield township. The old. family home is now owned by Mr. Kliegl. iat j-. This ’couple' were 'united in j ias [marriage January 28, 1883. They immediately established theirhome in Fairfield township where they- have resided constantly since. Here they worked together industriously — happily; and contentedly raised their family,They were frugal and ae-j cumulated a comfortable fortune. ltolThey have an excellent farm;!tattel;o-.’:W—i*gon;heupenhen..ce!U~(home and are so situated thatis-aofthey have no fear of wanting for anything.Yet they have not retired byany means. They still enjoy theip,runstn-lO'_eheup!SSrandayketofarm work and household duties and the present gives promise that they will for many years.Mr. Kliegl served as a member of. the board of supervisors for twelve years. He was careful and shrewd and handled the public affairs intrusted to him as he would handle his own business.The Tribune is pleased to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Kieigl on their 45 years of happy and successful married life and trusts that there will be a long stretchT
