Family Of 6 Loses HomeFire Sweeps Through Dale L. Little ResidenceA fire of undetermined origin swept through a two-story frame house Tuesday afternoon, destroying the entire contents and personal belongings and clothing of the Dale L. little family on Police Lodge Road. Damage in the fire is unestimated.The family was not at home when the fire broke out In the basement of the house at about 2:53 p.m. They were visiting Mrs. Littleās parents in St. Marys, W. Va.Mr. and Mrs. Little have a teenage daughter, Danene, agfc 17; another daughter Gayla, age 2; a son Bobby, age 8, and another son, David, who is serving with the U.S. Air Force and stationed at Kansas.Colliers Fire Chief Lyn Fowler said the basement and first floor of the house was gutted by fire when firemen received the alarm. Damage on the second floor of the house was confined to smoke.Firemen were hampered by lack of water and had to lay a supply line to a nearby creek to pump extra water to fight the fire. Two emergency cars, four pumpers and a tanker truck were at the scene.The Colliers Fire * Department was recalled to the house at about 6 p.m. when the fire rekindled at a wall near the front window and also at the. steps leading to the upstairs.Weirton Volunteer Fire Companies One, Two and Three and the Hanover Volunteer Fire Company also assisted in fighting the fire.Mr. and Mrs. Little were notified late Tuesday afternoon of the fire and returned last night.The family is temporarily staying at the home of Mr. Lit-Turn To Family Page 2
