Later he became sheriff of that county, serving it* that capacity for three terms.He built and operated the first hotel in Harrison, county seat of Sioux county, and was an organizer of the Bank of Harrison.He aided in building the courthouse there and was active in allcivic affairs. In 1893 he moved to South Dakota where he livedsix years.It was in 1899 that he moved to Bakersfield, where the familyhas made a definite place for itself in the social, cultural and industrial iif« of the community
