Oasis, opened in 1997, dosed its doors for the last time yesterday night. Oasis has been a staple of the town in no small help to its prime location on the comer of Detroit and Main streets. But location can’t solve every problem. When owners Mike and Sonja Pershing bought the restaurant in 2005. the downtown atmosphere was bustling with small businesses. In the years since, those businesses have dwindled, taking many of Oasis' customers with them.Mike, who works at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as a physicist, offers the straight answer as to why they're saying goodbye to Oasis. “The expenses exceed the return. said Mike. We put in a lot of effort, a lot of money, and a lot of time and it didn't really pay off.”Serv ing soups, sandwiches, wraps and burgers.
