Leon and LaVern BrewerLeon and LaVem Brewer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an all-day open house reception Sunday, Dec. 31. at the Brewer residence at Lake Sumner.Leon Brewer and LaVemWhitcamp were married in Roswell Jan. 2, 1946, by the Rev. Allen E. Johnson. The couple grew up in Roswell and spent their schooling and work years in Roswell. He is a retired employee of New Mexico Military Institute. They moved to Lake Sumner in May 1990 when they both retired.The reception is hosted by their son, Sam, and his wife, Betty, who reside in Rio Rancho. The couple also has four granddaughters. Friends of the couple are welcome to drop by for cake and coffee.
