Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hensley To Celebrate 63rd Wedding Anniversaryi k --—-Mr, and Mrs. Howard Hensley,'residents of Bedford and vicinity for, th.e Past 58 years, will i celebrate their 63rd wedding an-1 niversary at their home next I Sunday. Mr, and Mrs. Hensley 1 are both enjoying fairly good i health and Mr. Hensley is able : to make occasional trips to ' town.Mr. and Mrs. Hensley were married at the home of Her parents near Sheldon, Irouquois 'I county, Illinois, on Dec. 27,! 1868. They lived on a farm near ■Sheldon for 4 years. Early in the spring of 1^73, with their 2 small children, they went to the state of Washington, which was then a territory. After looking over ’$he country- for about six weeks, • they grew homesick for the states, and rode the stage back 600 miles on the old Ore-gon Trail and on east, arriving in Bedford the last week in June, They engaged in general farming and stock raising , near Bedford for *31 years, B moving •into town 27 years ago. :Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hensley, 8 of whomare still living. They are: Mrs. Lillian Stephens, Los Angeles,1 Calif.; Mrs. Blanche Beau-, champ, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs.* Estella Keenan, Seattle, Wash.;! Mrs. W. M. Tan do, Portland J TOregon; Mrs. Mary McCIaron,j Braddyville, Iowa; T.. H. Hens-' ley, J. N. Hensley, and J. A. Hensley, all of the vicinity of Bedford.Mr. and Mrs. Hensley jjave 33 grandchildren and 32 great-1 grandchildren. Mr. Hensley is-87 years old and Mrs. Hensley ib 85.Mr. Hensley is a civil war veteran, having enlisted in Co.‘ F., 27th Indiana infantry when! he was 17 years old. He’served * 3 years, being engaged in the' battles of Winchester, Cedar! Mountain, Second Bull Run and also at Anfciatam, Maryland, where he was wounded. He was on duty for 3 months at Fort. Stephens, President Lincoln be-; ing there at the same time. A
