W. Woodward, last night. It was the “crystal wedding’9 of the club, and was one of the pleasantest social events of the season* “Brynwood” seems to have been designed especially for such a celebration, for a more beautiful and appropriate place could hardly be conceived. The new art gallery has Just been completed, and was dedicated by having the anniversary banquet of the “Friends in Council” served In it. The collection of choice works of art, in this room, is something of which Mr. Woodwar t has great reason to be proud. The room was handsomely decorated with flowers, by Mrs. Paul Brooks.Dinner was served in this elegant gallery at 7 o’clock, to which about thirty “Friends in Council,” and as many of their husbands and gentlemen “friends,” who were glad to take part in that particular sty le of “council.” The dinner was superb. It proved that ladies, while they may scorn the Idea of material refreshments in their own meetings, are thoroughly competent judges of the weakness of the sterner sex; and know how to satisfy their craving for„ the “substantial.”After the “bivalve” bad been satisfactorily disposed of, Mrs* TUacber, president of theclub, announced that the roll would be called, and ladies would answer to their names with remarks or quotations. This was a very interesting part of the entertain-ment* Letters were read, in response to the names of absent members, from Mrs. P. I). Kidnour, Mrs. L. P. Leonard, Mrs. O. B. Gunn, Mrs. It. S. Lewis, Mrs. C. A. Gleed,Mrs. Clara Wintf rstein Knittle and Nellie*Wade Whitcomb.
