He hack been scheduled to leave at 7By JOHN J. STEWARTThe loneliest man in all Jericho was Zacchaeus, the chief publican or tax collector for the Roman government.Zacchaeus was an extremely short, pudgy man. From early youth he had suffered ridicule and a complex because of his size. He had determined to change others contempt to envy by amassing great wealth. To this end he had devoted his whole life. But somehow his success had failed to bring him happi ness. Although others envied him they also despisad and shun-ned him. In common with other publicans, he was regarded as a sinner and a traitor. He had no friends. Having accomplished his one goal in life, he now had no purpose. His ornate palace was silent and gloomy, a vast tomb Isolating him from humanity. *How lonely and shallow was his life. How he craved friend ship, to be wanted, to be needed, to be loved, to have some purpose for living, to be a part of humanity.Sitting alone in self-pity one evening, he saw a great throng coming down the road. Upon learning that it was Jesus, the popular Nazarene prophet, he rushed out to have a look at Him, envious of His popularity, curious to know what attracted people to Him. Jesus, like himself, was hated by the priests. It gave them something in common.Zacchaeus tried to push his way through the crowd to get a glimpse of the Master. But always he was shoved back. In desperation he ran ahead and with much effort climbed up a sycamora tree, trusting that he would be able to see without being seen.A second vehicle, a station; See MAN On Page A-2 Tire Co.(adv.) i in Texas,
