He was promptly disqualified.Tries to Coach Prosecutor.Mayor Humes was present as prosecuting witness. He occupied a prominent position at the corner of the Judge's desk, where he attracted constant attention by suggestions to Prosecuting Attorney Coon. At one time his interruption became so violent that W. N. Andrews, Young's attorney, sharply requested that Guy abstain from practicing law until after he has been admitted to the bar.*’J. It. Haines, alias Jones of Mueko-gee, was star witness for the state. He told of visiting the rooms where the roulette wheel was In operation and of playing the wheel.Robert Jacobin declared ha was going to get even with Young and do him dirtHe said his only motive in connection with the case was revenge, and that he was going to get It.Beds Frequently Removed.Mrs. Irene Amos, housekeeper of the J Connor hotel, again told of having the beds removed from rooms Nos. SOI and 392, but acknowledged under cross-examination that such removal was not an unusual incident in the hotel.Bxcept in the case of Jacobin, who swore he told Young of the roulette wheel and threatened to tell the mayor, non© of the state's witnesses could say that 'Young had knowledge of the gambling outfit. The testimony of Mrs. Amos developed that a roulette wheel was discovered In another room at the hotel several weeks before the raid, and that it was removed as soon as Young learned of J Its presence.“Invited to Convict Young.”A slight sensation was caused when Andrews, Young’s attorney, declared that Haines, so-called detective, asked John Bellew, whom he met Sunday night at the Bimdav tabernacle, to come up and get on a Jury and convict Young. Bellew was brought into the court room. Haines acknowledged talking with him at the place and on the night mentioned. Asked whether he made such a proposition to Bellew, Haines could not remember. Herefused to affirm or deny the allegation.The trial occupied the entire afternoon. The case went to the jury shortly before 6 o'clock. A verdict of not guilty was returned one minute later.
