Friday afternoon and evening a number of ladies and gentlemen as sembled at the residence of Col. C. C. Schreeder on north Main street to do honor to Rev, F. Wiethaup, who reached the 80th milestone on his life's journey that day. An elegant supper was provided and all presenthad a very pleasant time. The»venerable gentleman, though 80 years of age, enjoys excellent health and his memory is as clear as of yoret His narratives of times long gone by were very interesting and were the feature of the evening. Rev. Wiethaup was born on Dec. 15th, 1813 inSchledehausen, Hanover, Germany, and immigrated to this country in1837. In 1838 he took up his abodeat this place and assisted in erecting the first house — a log house — in Huntingburgh, which formerly occupied the site where Leonard Bretz’sdwelling now stands. In 1846 he was ordained a minister of the German Evangelical Association and zealously labored in the vineyard ofthe Lord up to 1877, when he retired. He was married to Mrs. MaryE. Schreeder, mother of Col Schree-cer, in 1853, who preceded him in/ • mdeath m 1880. For the past two/years Rev. Wiethaup has made his
