Mr. and Mrs. Robert Padula of Laurel Place celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a double family reunion of the Ona and Padula families.The couple renewed tljeir vows June 2, 1996, at St. Vitus Church where they are members. Officiating was the Rev. Robin Evanish. Witnesses were Dan Malley, the best man, and Joan Malley. The couple’s maid of honor Angie Padula Ross was unable to attend. Also attending was Mrs. Padula’s 92-year-old mother Philomena Ona.The reunion and a reception took place at the St. Lucy Worship Site of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. Hosting the event were the couple’s daughters and sons-in-law: Bill and Stella Perrine of Sharon; Harry and Georgia Micco; Ronnie and Phyllis Genareo; Bill and Robin Chadbolt of Grove City; Ralph and Jackie Pisano; and Patrick and Nanci Jo Mahoney of North Ferrington, Vt.Mr. Padula and Nancy Ona were married June 1,1946, in the old St. Lucy Church on Cedar Street by the Rev. Sebastian Ippolito.Mr. Padula is an altar server for funeral Masses at St. Vitus and is also on the board of directors at the Greater New Castle Federal Credit Union where he does volunteer work. He also enjoys gardening.Mrs. and Mr. PadulaMrs. Padula belongs to the Ladies Guild of St. Vitus Church, TOPS 299 and the Ladies of the Dukes. While her children were growing up, she was an active Girl Scout leader in the Croton area for 20 years. She enjoys working crossword puzzles and reading.Mr. and Mrs. Padula both enjoy babysitting.In addition to their daughters, the Padula family includes 10 granddaughters, a step-grandson, three great-granddaughters and a great-grandson. Another grandson, Anthony Micco, is deceased.
