Ninety-Two Years Old,Mrs. Elizabeth Stonecipher, widow of Henry Stonecipher, who resides with her daughter, Mrs. Jacob Watson, two and one-half miles southeast of Corydon, celebrated her ninety-second anniversary on Thursday, Dec. 5, 1901. She was surprised by several of her relatives from a distance and enjoyed herself very much.She was born Dec. 5, 1809, in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, near Strausburg. She resided in that State until 18.18 when she, with her father’s family, came to Indiana, The journey being made in a wagon which was not large enough to accommodate all the family, she and her sister walked the entire distance—almost 1000 miles.They first located at Milltown where her father died at the age of 95. In 1851 she was married to Henry Stonecipher and became the mother of one chilli and stepmother of ten children. They lived together happily until 1870, when he died. She has been confined to her bed for about two years, but still retains a jolly spirit and enjoys herself very much in telling the story oi her Virginia life and her trip to Indiana.
