Christmas at The Cottage...The “hanging of the greens” on Tuesday evening, December 9, opened the Christmas season at Charlton Cottage. Carloads of evergreens were obtained by the freshmen prior to that evening. With this supply of greens the girls stuffed the railings of the balcony. After Whipping up some detergent they sprinkled it on the greens, giving them a “snowy” appearance. While the “hanging” was taking place a few of the girlsdecorated the tree. 'f, * lt;•To add to the decorative appearance of the Cottage, three of the girls painted the mirrors.. _ Carol Dale painted a mirror completely black. Then she scratched the outline Of the Madonna and the Child so that-the light on the mirror reflects the picture. Mamie Hinshaw painted an attractive green Santa Claus on one mirror while Carolyn Moberly painted Christmas greetings on another one.Another Christmas tradition of,the Cottage is the drawing of names for a secret pal. Each day each girl should, via note, deed, or word receive some kindness from her pal.Tonight the Cottage will have “early hours” in order to have their Christmas party. Sandy Morgan is in charge of the party where each girl will receive a gift from her secret' pal. Miss Lulu Brown will be a guest at the party. „Although they will end their evening with traditional caroling, they will not end their warm Christmas spirit.
