GOLDEN WEDDINGThe Greensburg News recently published the following account of the golden wedding celebration of H. H. Greene and wife, of New'point, parents of Frank and Charles Greene of Batcsville:On November 28th, 1869, Mr. H. H. Grene and Miss Tamzon Marlin were united in marriage at the home of the bride’s father, Mr. Wesley Marlin ;n Newpoint by Squire Colson. So on November 28, 1919, their children, grandchildren and other relatives gathered at their home to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.At noon a pitch-in-dinner was served which consisted of all the good eats of the season. .lust before retiring to the dining room the children’s gift of gold was presented to the parents, the presentation speech being made by their eldest son. J. M. Greene and the response was made by the mother. May the glowing words of mother be so imbedded upon the minds of the children that they shall never be forgotten.During the afternoon music was enjoyed from an orchestra composed of the following members: J. M. Frank, and Henry Greene, Cornetist; Charles Greene and Forest Ketchum, Trombone; Carrie Schwetman, Violin; aad Clara Greene, pianist.Readings were given by Mildred Greene of Panola, III., and James Greene of Connersvillc, which were greatly enjoyed. Vocal numbers were were rendered by Lavona Marlin, Mary Freeland and Mae Ketchum. The mother, Mrs. H. H. Greene and her brother, Mr. John .Marlin, sang several duets which were very much enjoyed.The gifts were in keeping with theday and consisted of seventy-two and one-half dollars in gold, a gold pin, a gold gravy ladfe and a hand painted china cream and sugar set with bands of gold.There are nine children and sixteen grandchildren and all were present. A family picture was taken also a picture of the entire group.The guests included Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Greene and daughters of Indianapolis, Mr. ami Mrs. Harry j Greene of Dallas, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Forest Keteham of I.ebanon, Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Greene and family. Charles Greene and family of Hatos-villc, Mr. and Mrs. I.eal Freeland and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Greene and son of Sidney Ohio, Frank Greene and children of Batesville, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Greene, Mr. Charles Greene and daughters of Panola. 111., Mr. and Mrs. James Greene of Con-nersville, Miss lxra Greene of Greensburg, Mrs. Edward Champer of Valley Mills, MiJR. Bert Eaton of Dallas Texas. John Marlin and farmly and Mrs. Mary Deweese, Sidney, Ohio, Claude Deweese and son, Rolert of Sidney, Ohio, and the Misses Lorena and Carrie Schwetman of Batesville.It is quite remarkable that during the fity years of wedded life of this couple death has visited this family ■ but twice—an infant son died forty-seven years ago ami a daughter-in- ‘ law, Mrs. Frank Greene died June 22, 1917.After supper the guests departed to ; their homes declaring the day had : certainly been well spent and one * long to be remembered, by all who : were present.A Gl’KST.There is only one kind of Printing • worth anything —the right kind, j That's our platform.- - i
