Humbird Couple Wed 50 Years•.s'.’.m* ■ '•'•A* « •.iV.‘ft-sMr. and Mrs. John BurchellMr and Mrs. John Burchell of Humbird observed their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at a family dinner and an open house held in Humbird Community Hall.The couple was married Dec. 6, 1922 in Evangelical and Reformed Church, Neillsville, with Rev. David Grether officiating. Their attendants included Mrs. Fred Stelloh and Anna Marie Grather.After living in Wisconsin Rapids for one year, the couple moved to Butler, Pa., where Burchell was a mechanical engineer. He later worked for the U.S. Army Engineers in Columbus, Ohio. He retired in 1956, when the couple returned to Humbird to live.Burchell served with the Armed Forces in World War I and is a member of the American Legion Post in Humbird. Mrs. Burchell is a member of the Merrillan American Legion Auxiliary, while both are members of the National Association of Retired Federal Employes.The couple’s two living sons are Clarence of Eau Galle, Fla.,and Merle of Rockford, 111. A third son, Paul, was killed in an auto accident in 1961. They also have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
