Father G. Kuratko. They were married fifty years ago November 19, at Mart, Texas by the Rev. Father G. Apel at the home of Joe and Mary Fillip.The union was blessed with seven children, three daughters and four sons. Today they are grandparents to 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Mrs. Vanek, nee Frances Filip, was born at St. John’s while Mr. Vanek a native of Praha, 30th of Fayette County. A musician, Mr. Vanek first organized the Vanek Orchestra while today the sons carry on in their father’s footsteps. For the past forty years the couple has resided in the Sweet Home community.Following church services at Sweet Home the honorees were brought to Yoakum for a surprise dinner by the children, namely: Mrs. John (Martha) Kret of San Antonio; Mrs. Clifford (Mildred) Kret of San Antonio; Mrs. O. J. (Lou) Hooks of Hobson; son Edmund of Stafford and Tommie Vanek of Yoakum and their respective families. Other children are, sons, Joe of Houston and Felix Vanek of Shiner.Music in the afternoon was furnished by the Tommie Vanek Orchestra.Out-of-town guests included Mrs. Ida Kret, Mr. and Mrs. John Kret and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Kret and family, all of San Antonio; Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Sternadel and family of Flatonia; Mr. and Mrs. Joe A.
