i Horace Mills, 49-year-old former Pemberton resident charged , 1 with the shotgun murder of his' j son-in-law, Clarence Preston Miller, jr., 26, Tuesday was adjudged insane by a Raleigh county lunacy commission and ordered j committed to a state institution,Assistant Prosecutor Harry Mc-Creery said yesterday. jA warrant charging Mills with ; murder was issued by state police following the incident last Friday morning in his daughter and son- j in-law’s home where police said he had been staying for about a month alter separating from his ! wife. !j Conservator of the Peace Walter I (Huff following the shooting atat-, ed he thought Mills was insane. Mills, according to Huff, blew off :the back of Miller’s head with a blast from a 12 gauge shotgun and then, after throwing two of three[shotguns out a window, went to bed.State police reported they found Mills in bed “moaning like a crazyman” when they arrived more than two hours alter the shooting.McCreery said state authorities probably would transfer Mills to an institution in about a week.
