Friends in Council Anniversary.Friends in council Tuesday night celebrated tboir 35th Anniversaiy at Bryn wood, the borne of Mrs. B. W. Woodward. The Friends inCouncil was organized in 1871 and is the oldest litedrary club in thestate of Kansas.Lost. night the first part of thfe evening was devoted to a dinner, served at small tables, six oovers he-r € - - 'ing laid at one table.' Most of the tallies were placed ih the beautifulart gallery, while the remainder werein the hall. The place cards were very simple having only the names written upon them. A three-course dinner was served, the blessing being asked by Dr. F. H. Snow. Three 3*oung ladies'of the Chi Omega sorority and Miss Marquerite Emery, assisted in serving.Following the dinner a delightful program was given in the parlor. The programs were ..little tinted booklets, having a picture of Bryan-wod on the cover. Mrs, Brooks,, the president of the club, gave a charming little greeting, which was followed by- Mrs. Bailey reading letters from absent members. The musical numbers were a violin solo by Miss Constance Cornuth, a solo by Chancellor Strong, a solo bj' Dr. Carruth .and songs by Mrs. Irving.Hill.• %Mrs. W. H.
