Playing with four juniors in the starting lineup, Sabino managed only one point in the first period and eventually lost 58-50 to a quicker, more experienced Tucson team.He's improved over last year,” said Demarchi of Ballinger. “I don’t think anyone’s as smooth as he is. He does everything so smoothly, sometimes his talent is overlooked.”In that first game, SabinoDemarchi thinks if the inexperience problem can be worked out early in the season, his team could come around strong. Sabino lost five out of its top seven players from last year’s team, including Tucson Daily Citizen All-City forward Mike Callaway.The juniors in the starting lineup are Ballinger, guard Rick Berman (5-11) and forwards Jeff Demercy (6-6) and Dave Northcraft (6-7). The lone senior in the starting lineup is 6-1 forward Don Rase of whom Demarchi says, “He can shoot well and he’s a hustler.”In this year’s team, Demarchi sees “a lot of potential there.
