WHAT DOES DENTON NEED?(By W. T. Bolton)Manager W. T. Bolton of the Boi%i-Stewart Wholesale Grocery Co., in replying to the question, “What DoesDenton Deeds?” said:“According to my idea Denton needs two things and needs them badly. Of course I know as every one knows that this and every other town needs many things but since I am a newcomer to the town I would not undertake to criticise even if I had anything to criticise.“The first thing, according to my way of thinking, that Denton needs is a Rotary Club. A real live Rotary Club will do more to create a feeling of community interest than any thing you can get. There are many men here in this town who have passed and repassed their fellow business men for years and feel that they know them but if they were members of a Rotary Club they would get together in a way that they never have gotten together before. It would not be long before they would find out that each man was a better fellow than his neighbor thought he was. They will find that their interests are common and the outcome will be good for thewhole town.“I lived in McKinney for six years and I know that nothing ever happened to that town that did as much good as the Rotary Club. It put more life into the town than any thing that ever happened to it. Go to McKinney, Sherman, Denison, Greenville or any town in the country that has one and ask any man in town what is the best public feature they have and he will tell you without hesitation that the Rotary club is the best thing the town ever had. A Rotary club gets the people together and gets them to working. For a town the size of Denton a Rotary Club is the best thing you can start. Tho Rotary club will not in any way interfere with the activities of the Chamber of Commerce. On the contrary it will lend life to the work of that body.“Another thing that Denton needs is a sanitarium. When I think of the fact that we are away up here with a densely populated country and no means of getting real treatment in case of sudden or severe illness but to j load on a train and go to either Dallas 1 or Fort Worth it makes me feel uneasy. Nothing Denton could securewould be of more real benefit than agood Sanitarium. It will not only save many a life and much suffering but it will pay a good return on the investment. I will take some stock in one if it can be put on foot.”
