Avenue of FlagsTo Enhance CityMare Island Way makes for a beautiful drive along the Mare Island Channel with the Marina Vista apartments overlookingthe park on one side and the waterway on •the other. But now a new aspeet to thebeauty will be added soon when Mare Island way becomes the “Avenue of Flags” in keeping with the Bicentennial observances being conducted through the year 1975 when America observes its 200th birthday anniversay.City* Council is to be congratulated* for choosing Mare Island Way for this displayof flags from all of the 50 states and of various organizations sponsoring and financing individual flagpoles. This will be In keeping with with the annual Fourth of July firecracker display which is held annually in the half-mile stretch between Maine Street and Florida Street.
