Top The Program In Regular Appearance On The Arthur Godfrey Radio Show DailyThe Sheboygan Chordettes broke into print cm a national sca^, in September, 1949, when they won the honors for a three days* program, on the Godfrey broadcast after audition on the Talent Scouts program. Three days went by and the girls were made a permanent feature of the show and appear five mornings a week on radio (CBS), and Wednesday nights on television. vNow they are in their second year and more popular than ever. When they were first signed Arthur Godfrey remarked, When they hit those harmonies, the tears just roll out of my eyes.” A short period back, the girls were singing “Down on Thirty-third and Third/' and preceding the song the girls made this announcement:“We came from Sheboygan to visit the city and now we are staying for good. Since we have been here we have been training our ear to talk like all city folks should.'‘Since we have arrived in New York here is how they taught us to talk.’*Then they went into their song, and not only Arthur. Godfrey,and dramatics. Was member of a barbershop quartet while in school. Toured the country with a stage troupe, later was on stage with her auntThe Chordettes have recorded, “If It Wasn’t For Your Father,” and “Candy and Cake/’ with Arthur Godfrey. They also have a Columbia Records album titled “Harmony Time,” which consists of favorites from their barbershop quartet repertoire.Five years ago, on a quiet Sunday afternoon here in Sheboygan, WJs., these'four young ladies decided to while away an idle hour by singing.
