Moten is returned for the third year to St. James, Terrell, to the profound delight and earnest wishes, both of the St. Jame« church and of all churches and friends of the community regardless of church or color.Rev. Moten has been, and is for Terrell, and her entire interests, the greatest of all soul salvation and soul culture, for time and for eternity. Rev. Dr. Moten desires it to be well understood that he profoundly and most deeply appreciates the kind words and gotod wishes and encouragement and co-operation of members and friends of St. James, and Terrel), so readily manifested in the past two years and that the choicest blessings of God are asked to be repletely given to every one of such, and the mercy lof God upon all, now and ever mom. Dr. Moten reports a very successful session of the conference throughout.I One of the noted features gleaned by the Transcript man in the interview was that Rev. Moten was offered the secretaryship in uie nominationof three others, and they ail declined in fa\ior of Dr, Moten, and a resolution to elect him by acclamation was offered and would have betsn enthusiastically carried but $he modest pastor of St. James, Terrell, alreadynvearing the mast prominent honor,to preach the educational sermon, modestly declined the honor in behalf of Dr. J. W. Rankind, Ms friend, late of Corsicana, To emphasize the affair, it was the heart wish of bishop and conference to a man for his election. And these are not all the honors appreciatively declined by the Rev. Dr. Moten.The educational sermon was preached on Friday evening by Rev. Dr. Moten to a replete audience and a great second audience without the doors. His theme was: “SpeakingWisdom.** We hear through other sources tliat the sermon was a thoughtful, tprofound and very able one, and well delivered and heartily received by conference and congregation.Rev. Moten was elected fraternal delegate of his conference, the North Bast, to the West Texas conference, in San Antonio.Rev. Moten was a member of the committee on education and dhairman Oif tfiie endowment committee and $329.51 was received for Paul Quinn college, aside from a large sum sent on. He was also a member of tht? Holy Order committee and aeesdsted in the ordination of elders at the ordination services Sunday 11 a. m. Over $1850 of dollar money was raised.
