Watershed project said feasible Lenox optionLEE — The Washington Mountain Brook Watershed Project does appear to be a feasible alternative water source for the town of Lenox, according to preliminary studies, Donald Graves of Whitman Howard consultants said after a meeting Tuesday at the ILS. Soil Conservation Service headquarters in Amherst.Graves, representing the consultants for Lenox, met with Tighe Bond, the Lee consultants, and Soil Conservation Service officials Tuesday to discuss the progress of studies on the potential of the Washington Mountain Brook Watershed Project to supply water to Lenox as well as to Lee. The two consulting firms will make official reports of the meeting to Lee and Lenox selectmen bythe beginning of next week.The Soil Conservation Service is expected to make a preliminary report on the federal environmental impact statement that it is preparing to the Selectmen of the two towns around Dec. 15.Early studies indicate that the projected additional water needs for the towns of Lee and Lenox by the year 2020 will be 2.16 million gallons daily, Graves said, with .75 million gallons daily required for Lenox and 1.41 million gallons daily required to meet Lee’s projected needs.Lee merchants seek to ease sign bylaw
