The occasion was celebrated by ti,. number of their friends ■ congregating at the residence, and while Mr. Walker was at Lodge, unceremoniously wulking in and takin g entire possession of the premises. At the proper time order was'called and in a neat and pleasing speach by J. H. Miller Esq. a beautiful silver cake dish, engraved, “Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Walker, Toulon, HI., 1866, Nov. 28, 1881,” from • their .Toulon friends was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Walker,-and to Mr. .-.Walker; a. magnifi-cieiit ebony cane witlL a beautiful gold head, eng- *. /ed in old English, “D: J'. Walker,”and in script, “Toulon, 111., Nov. 29, 1881.” /Mr. Walker ' responded in a few well chosen words acknowledging .their , appreciation of the remembrance,' and thanking their many friends.
