The treasurer also is an employe of the court.Witnesses have testified city employes had to kick back three per cent of their wages to the dominanl Independent Club to keep their jobs and also to insure a certain number of votes.Other witnesses said contributions were voluntary and no one had ever been fired for not donating to the entrenched political power in this border county.Kazen also filed an order to carry' the investigations through the general election Nov. 6. He asked Judge R. D. Wright to have the ballots impounded for a check for irregularities. Ballots from the July 28 and Aug. 25 primaries have been locked up Referring to Sen. Price Daniel's close, apparent victory over Ralph Yarborough in the governor's race. Kazen told the packed courtroom:If a statewide contes is made for this election. I predict Webb County will be found among the cleanest in Texas when it comes to voting and canvassing of votes.Yarborough supporter and rancher C B Dick said, i predict Mr. Kazen's prediction will be wrong ” Dick is a leader of the other political group here, the Reform Party, which * fighting the Independent Club.Fire Chid' George Renken and his assistant.
