MORRIS MUMFORD SURPRISEDRelatives and Friends Help Him Enjoy a Birthday Anniversary.Quite a pleasant affair occured at the home of Mr. Morris Mumford in Liberty township on last Wednesday it being his 63d birthday. His daughters planned the surprise so quietly that he never suspected until arriving home from town, he found the yard filled with rel- • atives and friends who had come with filled baskets.There were 71 present: Ayres Mum-ford, Westborrow, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Sol Veedles, Lacona; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Taylor, Oakley: Henry Ruble and family, Indianola; Mrs. Rachel Miller, Chariton; Thomas Carpenter and wife, Mrs. Florence Moabarger and daughter,' Geo. Baker, Mr. Clark and family all of Oakley; Mr. and Mrs. Davis, Jacob; Miller and family, Grant Needles and' family, Mrs. W. J. S hr ope and daugh-I ter’s, Mrs. Rebecca Vanderbur, Joseph Vanderbur and family, Jack Stinualt and family, George Murray and wife, Andrew Malone, May Hughes, Esther Murphy, all of Lacona; TreemanlRuble and wife, Ottercreek: Wesley Carpenter and family, English; Mr. and Mrs. Nusebaum, Newbera.His daughters gave him a nicerock-ing chair and several other presents were given him by relatives. Late in the evening all went home feeling that it had been a day long to be remembered.
