Earl NelenGRAMPIAN — Earl Joseph Nelen, 67, of Irishtown, RD1, Grampian, died Wednesday at the DuBois Regional Medical Center West.He was bom on Dec. 26, 1924, in RD1, Patton, Cambria County, the son of Henry and Emma (Smith) Nelen. He married the former Louise Trexler on Sept. 13, 1947, in Chest Spring. She survives.He was employed by Beckwith Machine for 16 years as a heavy equipment mechanic and was self-employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for 10 years.He was an army veteran of World War II.He was a member of St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Church in Grampian, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 842.In addition to his wife, he is survived by nine sons, Leo Nelen, Francis Nelen, Dennis Nelen, all of RD, Grampian, Robert Nelen of Sykesville, Thomas Nelen of DuBois, John Nelen of Luthersburg, Donald Nelen, Louis Nelen, and Joseph Nelen, all at home; two daughters, Mrs. William (Jane) Russell of Grampian, and Mrs. Robert (Marie) McQuown of Sykesville; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Seymore of Altoona, Alice Nelen of Chest Spring, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Buck of Hastings, Mrs. Clyde (Edna) Link of Nicktown, and CCW Sister Theresa Nelen of Ebensburg; two brothers, George Nelen of Dysart, and Carl Nelen of Cresson; and 11 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Lewis, Lawrence, Thomas and Martin, and a grandson, Daniel McQuown.
