A Complete Surprise.Thursday, Autrust 22nd, was thethirtieth anniversary of the marriageof Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Root. By previous arrangements, their children had decided on surprising their parents by inviting in quite a number of friendsand relatives. At ten A. M. they allarrived, and to say the surprise was a success would be only treating it mildly. Mr. Root could not be persuaded that it was the 22nd until he consulted the almanac, but they finally lxth gave it up that they had been hood-winded for once. A general good time was enjoyed by all. The dinner hour was quite an important part of the program. A number of handsome gifts were left as mementoes of the occasion. The Mrs. Green and Mrs. Young, of Fairfield, were the only ones present that witnessed the ceremony 30 years ago. After wishing the happy couple many more anniversaries all repaired to their homes, having enjoyed*them* selves in a high degree.
