Vbelker of Oelwein was present to represent the Lutheran orphans’ home at Waverly, and he told of the diamond anniversary to : be observed in 1938. He also traced I the history of the home, first located , i at Andrew and for the last few dec-. ades at Waverly, and reported on 1 the work done by and for the home. The Monticello convention sent official, cordial and fraternal greetings to the Eastern Iowa conference of the Missouri Lutheran synod in convention assembled at Cedar Rap-ids.Anniversary ServicesThe Monticello congregation and tr delegates attending the convention w observed the 28th anniversary of G the founding of the local church in h the three Sunday services. Diers c of Waterloo speaking on the topic, i“The Church and Her Women, t This was a very fitting sermon inthat Su lay was the anniversary of the Ladies Aid of the St. Matthew s Luthers church also. He reminded the convention that this was the second time that the women of the church had entertained the Iowa district and in his talk he stressedthe point that women should not lose sight of the glory of doingthe commonplace things. His sermon was followed by Pastor L. O. Krrts of Davenport, who spoke on The Church and Her Youth, enumerat-ing the necessity of the church s young pteople’s cqrganizaVon, the Luther League.c1
