THE Olip SETTLERS.'Everything considered, the reunion of the Linn County Pioneer Settlers, held in this city last Thursday was the Jbesfc and most enjoyable in the history lt;aff .their organization. The attendance was large, the weather was pleasant and the program one of unusual interest. It was observed in the main as published in the Register last week awcvd the exercises were very interesting. The following named officers hvere elected for the ensuing year:President, John Lanning of Lafayette.Vice President, Daniel Travis of Mt. Vernon.Secretary, James R. McKean of Marion;Treasurer, Andrew J. McKean, ofMarion.Hon. J. C. Davis who has been see-xetary of the association from its organization, declined a re-election.' His successor will be the right man in the ‘ xight place.Hon. J. S. Butler, president of the ^association, being absent on account of .sickness, vice president Lanning presided.Rev. J. A. Seaton delivered the address of welcome and Rev. Devol, of Central City, delivered the principal address of the day.Short addresses were made by Dr. Orippen, Rev, Loveland, Hon. W. R. JBrown and others. The solo by Mr. -A. Bolton was appreciated by all.'One hundred and seventy four new members were enrolled, making thentire membership now nearly 1.300.avion was selected as the next place ueeting. the time to be fixed bv theCJ */'VS.'
