NEGRO SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS ARE COMPLETEDSteam Heating Plant Installed and Another Room AddedExter.eive Improvements at theSeventeenth Street Colored School, costing a total of $7,066 have been completed, It was announced Saturday by Prof. S. E. Alberson, superintendent of the city schools.Mr. Alverson also announced that other necessary minor repairs have been made to the other city school buildings.A steam heating system was installed at the Seventeenth Street School at a cost of $4,644, and the inside was renovated and another room was added to the basement at a cost of $2,422.The extra room will be used for the household arts course which is being added to the curriculum of the Institution. Machines and other necessary equipment will be installed within the next few days and courses will begin when school is opened in September.Mr. Alverson also announced that a course in public speaking and in industrial arts had been added to the Anniston High School courses. Carpentry, electric wiring, mechanical drawing and (foncrete work are included in the industrial artscourse.Necessary minor repairs have been completed on the other school buildings in Anniston, Mr. Alverson stated.
