Black received nearly 200 guests on Sunday afternoon and evening in their home at Arkwright Summit, in keeping with their 40th wedding anniversary. The affair was arranged by Mrs. Black’s nieces, Miss Winifred Budd of Forestville, Mrs. Edmund A. Berndt of Stockton, and Mrs. Henry Cockburn of Silver Creek.Edna M. Warner, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John M. Warner of Hamlet, and Clarence N. Black, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Black of Arkwright Summit, were united in marriage in the Hamlet Methodist church Aug. 16, 1916 by the late Rev. Horace E. Frazier, who was pastor In the church for 11 years. The bride, a member of that church, servedas organist in Sunday school and church.Mrs. Black chose a red and black silk print dress with a corsage of red roses and Mr. Black was presented with a red rose boutonniere, gifts from Mrs. L. A. Budd. and daughter, Winifred.Miss Budd received and introduced the guests. Miss Ann Hed-berg of Jamestown had charge of the guest book at a table with a floral arrangement of 40 red roses, a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Black, Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Woolley and son, Jared A.Woolley.Mr. and Mrs. Black are members of the Fredonla Methodist church. Both have been active in fraternal organizations. Mr. Black is a past noble grand of Villenova lodge 941 IOOF, while Mrs. Blackis a charter member, past noblegrand and past district deputy pres ident of Hamlet Star Rebekah lodge 545, past Chautauqua County Pomona Grange lecturer, and Pomona master. She served In the New York State Grange offices for six years, and in the past was active in many clubs.The home was attractive with many flowers presented by rela tives, friends, and organizations with the color scheme^of ruby red.• A buffet lunch was served from the dining room which was decorated in red. The table was centered with a three * tiered wedding cake decorated in red rose buds. Lighted red tapers provided light.Mrs. Cockburn presided at the coffee urn. Mrs. Berndt cut and served the wedding cake and Mrs. Woolley served lunch. Aides in the kitchen in the afternoon were from Hamlet Star Rebekah lodge. Aides in the evening were from Villenova Grange 604, of which the honored bride has been a member for over ,40 years,’serving as worthy master Sand in many other capacities. Mr. Black has been.a Grange member 44 years.Guests present from away were Sarasota, Fla., Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Jamestown, Falconer, Dun kirk, Ashville, Silver Creek, Lake wood, Cassadaga, Sherman, Stock ton, Arcade, Westfield, Cherry Creek, South.
