AMLINGWho celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary last week•toMrs. Grosse, widow of a former pastor of St. John’s church. u Albert Amling, the eldest son, made a congratulatory speech to the parents in behalf of the children and presented them with a remembrance gift.Otto Weis of Milwaukee, the eldest grandson, spoke in behalf of all the grandchildren and his two children, the great-grandchildren, and pre-lt; sented the heads of the families with*another gift of remembrance. Other speakers were William Amling and sh’ip.Professor Henry Weis of Milwaukee. Several of the little tots, the grand children, recited poems bith in English and German.Mr. Amling was born May 20, 1*832,in OjIn 1853 he sailed from Bremen, where he had ^been living, to the United States atfd purchased a farm in Proviso township, Illinois, near Maywood, where he tilled the soil until 1889. In that year he retired and moved to Forest Park. His wife’s name was Christiana Lauretta Guenther. Shewas born May 18, 1841 in Goldlauter,Germany. When Mr§. Amling was 10 years old her parents moved to this country, settling in Proviso town-In 1858 they were married, after acourtship favcred by both families.
