When asked what her hobbies are, she listed many. Some of these she can no longer do, such as cooking, and she stated, “1 really did enjoy entertaining!” Miss Ryan also sewed, and she still is able to embroider and crochet. Her room at the nursing home is evidence because ofthe many lovely samplers hanging there for all to admire.It is apparent she enjoys club work. Miss Ryan is a charter member of DELTA KAPPA GAMMA Society, a member of the ATHENS STUDY Club, QUEST STUDY Club, and the SATURDAY Club of DECATUR. She is £member of the Retired Teachers’ Association and is former historian for the state of Alabama for that association.A former member of the A ARP, Miss Ryan was also active with Girl Scouts, and it’s interesting to note that ATHEN’s first lady, the wife of Mayor Dewitt Garrett, Mrs. Ruth Garrett, is a former Girl Scout of Miss Ryan’s.This lovely lady was not one to neglect her spiritual life, even with such a busy schedule. She is a member of the Athens’ First Baptist Church, and was superintendent of the junior department from 1921 until 1945. Her church is still verv nrecious to her
