MR. AND MRS EDWARD F. DONELANCouple Wed 50 Years; Parents Of 11 ChildrenThe observance of a golden wedding anniversary is an exciting event. But when you’re the parents of 11 children, all of whom are living and are expected to attend the celebration, then the occasion 19 all the more memorable.Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Donelan of 10 Beacon St. will mark their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday with an open house from 2 to 5 p. m. in the Fitchburg Lodge of Elks.- Their 11 children will be present to help t hem receive relatives and friends. It Is the first time since 1956-the year that one of the sons. Edward, was ordained into the priesthood—that the entire family has been together.Father Edward Donelan, who la assigned presently to the Hacienda de los Muchachos, a Boys Town project for underprivileged in Springer, New Mexico, will celebrate mass'at St. Bernard’s Church on Sunday morning at 10:30. A grandson, Arthur Trudel, win serve as an altar boy at the mass.Mr. Donelan, who Is 74 years old and was born in County Galway, Ireland and the former Sarah Walsh, 75, bom in County Mayo, were married Aug. 23, 3917 in New York City -in Holy Trinity Church. Mr. Donelan has been in this country since 1914 and his wife since 1907.Mr. Donelan is still employed at his son, John’s supermarket In Littleton, where he has worked for the past 10 years. He is on the job four days a week,For a period of 20 years he worked in the First National stores in Fitchburg and Ayerstore on Myrtle Avenue for 10 years.Among the guests at the openhouse will be Mrs. Donelan’s bridesmaid, Mrs. James Smith of West Yarmouth on Cape Cod.Sons of the couple besides Father Donelan and John, who also operates a supermarket in Acton, are James of Denver, Colorado, an elementary school teacher and Patrick of this qity employed as a carpenter by Honkala Construction Co.The Donelan’s seven daughters are Mrs. Kenneth Barker of Redondo Beach, Calif., wife of It. Col. Barker serving in Vietnam, Sister Mary Sarah, P.B.V.M. of Clinton who teaches at St John’s elementary school there. She will he marking the 25th anniversary of her religious profession having entered the congregation of the Sisters of Presentation Sept. 24, 1939.Also Mrs. Arthur Trudel of this city, Mrs. .Robert Soldini of Leominster, Mrs. Roy Barr of Berkeley Heights, N. J„ Mrs. Thomas Mooney of Salisbury, Md., all homemakers. * Another daughter, Mrs. David Humphreys, now living in Bavaris flew home earlier- this. month for her parent’s party. She and her husband, who is serving in the Army,- and their five children have heen making their home in Turkey for the past two and one-half years.The couple also has 30 grandchildren and one great grandchild. All of their children are graduates of St. Bernard's High School.Mr. Donelan is a member of the Knights of Columbus andhis wife is a member of Jeanne d’Arc Circle, Daughters of Isa-....__ L .11.
