M/ts. Stockingcelebnate 50th“Love is a ring, and a ring has no end ” This was the theme for a most unique and worshipful service held at the Mayfield Federated Chuch on Sunday afternoon, August 14. It was in observance of the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Dr and Mrs, Carl L, Stocking of 2893 South White Road, San Jose, California. The service was conducted by the Rev. Collet Johnson of Hestton, a former pastor of the Mayfield Church, who was the officiating minister of the marriage of Carl Stocking and Glenna Hensley, both voung persons of the Mayfield com munity. on August 17, 1927.A beautiful part of the service was the presentation by their son, Kenneth Stocking manager of the television station KMPH of Visalia, Calif., of two wedding bands of white and yellow gold set with diamonds, as his gift of love and appreciation for his parents With the exchange of these rings, the couple renewed theirvows of fifty years ago.Following the service, a reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church where many relatives and friends from California, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas, had the opportunity to extend their congratulationsand good wishes to the happycouple.The United Methodist Women of the Mayfield Church were in charge of the reception. Nieces of the couple who served were Gloria Kaberlien of Plains, Phyllis Potter of Winfield, andSherry Kline of Wellington, and Betty Popplewell, Wellington, who was in charge of the guestbook.Others helping with the reception and the basket dinner at noon were Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Hill of Anderson,Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stocking, Castro Valley, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Heasty, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Yearout and Mr. and Mrs Jack Yearout all of Mayfield.
