Anniversary Was SundayHigginsleans shi kef in s dence of••as theMr. and Mrs. James McMechan, residents of Boone for 54 years, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary Sunday, August 16th with a family dinner. Although the actual date is Aug. 18th, the celebration was held Sunday as their only son, James O. McMechan and family of 'Waterloo could not be here on the 18th. There was onlythe immediate family present, dueto the ill health of Mrs. McMechanwho has been ill for the last 4months with heart trouble. Atpresent she is some better.Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Jas. P. Meehan, Jareth and James III, Mr. and Mrs. John M.Easton, Robert Hillmer and Mr. and Mrs. Myron E. Hillmer, all of Boone.Pioneer DruggistMr. and Mrs. McMechan came toBoone 54 years ago from Galesburg, 111., and have lived here continuously ever since. Mr. Meehan operated the McMechan Drug store for 30 years at 815 Story street, and since he sold the store he hasworked for the C. N. W. R. R, and at present is at the Best Drug store. Mr. Meehan was born June 21, 1863 in Castlewellan Co. Down, Ireland, and Mrs. McMechan was born June 24, 1867 at Galesburg, 111.They had four children, Winni-fred Sarah, who succumbed six ysjyears ago, and one son who died in infancy, and Florence and James II. They have six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. McMechan are membersof First Presbyterian church andof the Masonic orders and O. E. S.and Daniel Boone Chapter D A. RFloral DecorationsFor the celebration the home at 1403 Story street was pretty with indithe seasons flower* and the dining table was lovely with a beautiful bouquet of sweet peas in atnd crystal holder.
