The Swords, Of Faithorn, Wed Fifty Years AgoMr. and Mrs. Frank Brother!on and son of Escanaba have returned from Faithorn, where they attended the fiftieth wedding anniversaryof Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Sword, grandparents of Mrs. Brotherton. Mr. and Mrs. Sword are pioneer residents of Faithorn and on their wedding anniversary, their four sons, three daughters, twenty-one grandchildren and one great grandchild with a large number of iriends gathered at the family home to celebrate the happy event.At noon a dinner walt; hold for the more than thirty members of the family and In the afternoon areception was held for the manyfriends of Faithorn and the surrounding territory who called to extend their congratulations. The Sword home was beautifully decorated in gold and white with vases of late summer flowers in shades of yellow and gold lending an attractive touch. In the late afternoon a luncheon was served theguests.The couple were the recipients of beautiful and appropriate gifts, from friends and relatives. Guests were entertained during the afternoon bv the couples granddaughters. Jeanette. Hazel and Claire Sword with a group of musical numbers, and Rev. Ix?w1s E. Shanks of Hermansville gave a short talk.Alexander Sword and Evelyn Bradley wore married in Compton.Kv.. Aug. 12. 1882. and came to Faithorn to reside in 1904. buildingthe house which they now occupy. Mr. Sword taught school in the early years and later was engaged in carpenter work and bridge building. Both Mr. and Mrs. Sword are nearing their seventy-second birthdays and are enjoying the best ofhealth.Relatives and friends who were present to assist in the celebrationRequest Canning Materials Be SentTo K. The women of St. Patrick’s parish who are working on the community canning project request that all donations, which were to be sent to the church be sent to the club rooms where the work will be done.Miss Irene Taylor Speaks On Buying Economically TodayMiss Irene Taylor, state homo demonstration agent, will speak at a meeting of women at the Wells Communt.y building this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The subject of Miss Taylor’s talk will be 4 Economical Buying.”On Thursday afternoon Miss Taylor will address a similar group of women on the same subject at the Xahma club.
