Blasdel National Family Association gathering near Harrison this weekendKenneth W. Blaiadel ofSomerworthm, N.H. is the President o! the National BlaisdeU Family Association. Born in Norridgewock, Maine, he was a 43-year employee of the General Electric Co. as an Engineer. He worked, .in Lynn, Mass. for 20 years and in Somers-worth, N.H. for 23 years. He served many years as a city councilman in Sonnerswortii where he and his wife, Dorthy, are retired.The Ohio Valley will host one of the few National Family Assoications in the United; .States on this, weekend August 15,16 and 17, at the Imperial House West on Rybolt Road near Cincinnati when the Blasdel relatives will gather there. How did it all get started?Several cousins of the Blasdel family from the east, midwest and. Far West had been corresponding regard-Rev. R. Carter BlaisdeU will 'conduct worship services during the BlaisdeU Reunion at 10:30 in. this Sunday in the Indigo Room of Dantes Restaurant. Rev. Blaisdell was horn in Chicago, the son of a minister. He graduated, from McCormick Theological Seminary of Chicago in 1905. He is now Assistant General Secretary of 'the Presbyterian Charismatic Communion whose liiiwQwliw—I Headquarters are in Oklahoma City, Okla.ing their family connections and ancestors during the late 1920’s and early 1030‘s. They found they were all a common ancestor to Ralph Bleasdale who had landed in Pemaquid Point, Maine, on August 15, 1635. So they decided, to form a National Association and have re-aunions every five years somewhere in the country. The first reunion was in Boston, Mass. on August 15,1935.Further research has found Bleasdale’s in Lancashire County, England as early as 1227 . The family has seen the growth of the United States from the beginning. They are now located in many states coast to coast.Liet. Jacob Blasdel was the first to come to the midwest. He settled on Tanners Creek, north of Lawrenceburg. He developed the town of Cambridge, near the new bridge at Pella Crossing. Floods forced them to move to' higher ground which is now the location of Ind. 1.He named the new settlement Pella after a daughter. He showed his faith in the new settlement by giving an area of .ground, for a school as long as the grass growed and the water flowed. This building, which was held by the township until just a few years ago, still stands as a dwelling today. LieL Jacob had a large family.
