HISTORY OF LOWERDEER CREEK CHURCHOF THE BRETHRENThe settlement of Brethren on Deer Creek in 1828, on the site now occupied by the town of Camden, proved to be the beginning of several church congregations in this area including Bachelor Run, Flora, and both Upper and Lower Deer Creek. The original settlers were Samuel Wise, deacon, and Peter Ey-man, the minister. They came four years after the first settlers in Carroll county. Peter Replogle, of Deer Creek Swamps, was chosen minister in 1829 and it is assumed that the church was organized in 1830. Little information is available about the early days of the work there. Paul, Clarence Sink and Herbert Fisher have served as pastors. Lewis Deardorff is the present pastor.
