She felt this was the perfect way to celebrate the Centennial and asked Jim Williams and Jim Forkers to build it.The 37 inch windmill is made out of white pine and birch. Williams said working part time, it took about 30 hours to complete.Forker and Williams created the pieces in Forker’s shop equipped with five joiner saws and a table saw.“I like the smell of wood,” said Forker. “I like hard wood like oak best.”A cradle for his daughter served as Forker’s first piece. With dove tail drawers, the roll top desk comes complete with pigeon holes and serves as oneof many antique pieces Forkerabout 30 hours tohas created. The trim aroundForker’s house includes earlyAmerican Gingerbread.•Williams feels that one of Forker’s greatest creations is the new fence going up in the back yard. With his own special design on each piece, Forker makes about seven cuts in each of the pieces. When completed, the fence will consist of about 500 boards.Williams’s other creations include bird houses, mail boxes and furniture. One of his personal favorites is an antiqueclock he built after a pattern drawn by his daughter.Williams and Forker both retired years ago and do woodworking as a hobby.
